Countdown to CAF deadline!

Posted in , , , ,

The countdown has begun. Only 28 hours until the Computer Animation Festival (CAF) contest through Indiana Uploaded has its deadline. Here's a teaser image from my animation. I've been pulling an all-nighter and finally need a few hours before I start up again. Things are looking positive so far, and I think I'm on track. But now I sleep.

The majestic Girraphalant...

Posted in , , , , ,
I was so thoroughly inspired by  "Indie Game", that I really feel a new fervor to become more active online and get my work to more eyes.  So without further ado, Here is a current work in progress.

This is an experiment with hand painted textures. The model and sculpt were Zeb Wood's and the original concept of the Elephant/Giraffe hybrid was that of Deb Schoolman, a classmate of mine at the Art Institute. Right now it's a bit shiny, but I was happy with how the texture was able to combine the two skin patterns.  I need to re-render it with a slightly higher poly model and tweak the setting a bit. This was painted in zBrush.

Mega Post

Posted in , , , , ,
I haven't posted in way too long. So I hope this makes up for some of that. I have produced two 3-D animations and uploaded them to vimeo. The first is a student project where I had to make a ball with a tail navigate an obstacle course. The second is a practice animation using a hard surface model I created of the TARDIS from Doctor Who. The rights to the music on both are not held by me. I'm currently working on a HD render of the TARDIS animation, and it will be posted to my vimeo account shortly.

A little scene with the Tardis!

Posted in , , , , , ,

I finally tweaked the Tardis model to where I like it. It's a little hard to see after the lighting, but I added bit of a wood grain to the surface as depicted in the latest season of Dr. Who. I've changed up the lamp on the top and added white window panes to match the new Tardis style as well.

This shot depicts the Tardis flying in the vicinity of the Eagle Nebula.

The file is a bit large, but you can see all the detail if you click to zoom.

A bit better on the Tardis

Posted in , , , ,

A little more what I'm looking for. The lighting is non-existent and only the default, but I figured out all the image surfaces. The color of the blue may be a bit pale. What do you think?

Mummy Final

Posted in , , ,

Here's the Mummy for my final in 3-D Modeling. The bandages came together finally. You can tell that by the time I got to the legs I had found a much more efficient and systematic way to create the bandages, but they sort of lack the energy and character of the arms. Hmmm... I guess that's something to think about moving forward, if I decide to actually rig this. Oh well, that will have to do.

New Model WIP

Posted in , , ,
This is a new model I first created in its infancy for my Mid-term in 3-D Modeling. At that point it didn't have wings or any surface colors.

The idea for this prop came is a magical flying machine used by an ancient Egypt-like culture. What else would they use than a magical mechanical scarab with vulture wings?
