Here's a photo of the piece I just got back from my observational drawing teacher. The objective here was to only render the negative space, that is to say the space that is not the object. I was really pleased with how this came out. The piece is roughly 20" x 36" and done in colored pencil. Kate wants to hang it in the bedroom. Of all of my work in the past year, I'm probably the proudest of this. If anyone is interested, I'm thinking of having Kate take a high quality image that could be suitable for reproduction and framing if you like this.
